Patterson Veterinary and Animal Health International’s 2018 National Sales Meeting

MOMENTUM! That was the theme of Patterson Veterinary and Animal Health International’s 2018 National Sales Meeting, held July 23-25, 2018 at the Fairmont Princess Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over 850 persons gathered at the Resort to meet with and learn from manufacturers, suppliers, and peers, conduct and receive training and education, and to celebrate and recognize the companies’ successful FY2018.

Patterson Veterinary Supply and Animal Health International, along with Canada’s Kane Veterinary Supply and the U.K.’s National Veterinary Service, form a business unit of Patterson Companies known as “Patterson Animal Health.” Representatives of all four organizations attended the meeting in Scottsdale.

Kevin Pohlman, President of the Patterson Animal Health business unit, explained: “We chose the theme of ‘Momentum’ to reflect the momentum we’ve gained as an organization over the past 12 months. We’ve been working diligently, and with purpose, to exceed our customer’s expectations and improve how we serve them. We’ve seen great momentum in how we work with each other, with improved technology and systems, and in how we invest in our employees and our growth. And the growth trajectory in the market we serve – veterinary, production, and retail – has tremendous momentum.”

Pohlman opened the meeting with an energizing address, recognizing each business unit’s growth and success, but also focusing on “…the achievements Patterson Animal Health has made in the areas of Customer Experience, Operational Excellence, and our continuing investment in our future and in our customer’s success.”

Following an address from Mark Walchirk, CEO of Patterson Companies, the meeting turned to a special event: the annual auction to raise funds for the Patterson Foundation, whose mission includes providing grants to nonprofit organizations in the dental and animal health fields. This year’s auction specifically benefited America’s Vet Dogs, whose service dogs programs were created to provide enhanced mobility and independence to veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities. Introduced by Patterson Animal Health’s Chief Commercial Officer George Henriques, CMS Gretchen Evans, with her service Labrador, Aura, discussed the important work and service that America’s Vet Dogs provide her and hundreds of others in need. The auction raised over $73,000 for the organization.

Trade show
Tuesday brought a full day trade show and exposition, where over 70 manufacturers and suppliers discussed new products and innovations, and engaged with sales representatives, sales managers, and other Patterson Vet and Animal Health International attendees. New practice management solutions, focused on helping veterinary professionals better care for their patients and their practice, were also featured, as were Patterson-exclusive equipment offerings.

Wednesday morning and afternoon were dedicated to education and training. Fourteen groups rotated through 23 different classroom sessions, resulting in over 2,100 hours of education.

High-achieving individuals and teams were honored at the meeting’s closing event, the Patterson Animal Health BU Awards and Recognition Banquet.
